** nanostudio songs **
Here's alittle tune i knocked up on Sunday and have been tweeking since. (and I'm still tweeking)
It's a cross between Jarre and Dance...
The thing I really liked about Nanostudio is that once I had got the lead lines down, I hit record again and used the XY filters to add effects after.
Nanostudio will now kill my life as we know it, but it'll be fun!
Is is possible to download songs uploaded via soundcloud? I feel like I'm being blind again...
Btw nice creations by all of you :D
This is quite a good way to see what's on SoundCloud:
Near the top left of each waveform view, you should see a rectangular 'download' button.
I'm enjoying the tunes too!
Oh, then Entracte has deactivated Downloads for his songs :( anyway, good to see that I was wrong again xD Probably gonna use SoundCloud, too, then.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to use SoundCloud for the 'upload straight from phone' function so it's probably a good move.
Any possibility of conversion to mp3 in the phone?
I think mp3 has a load of licensing issues but ogg should be possible at some point.
hey everyone, just wanted to drop in and say how much i dig this app and that i am going to start posting songs soon on the soundcloud group. i bought the SC app and am ready to start rockin.
i think a good idea if you chose to buy the SC app is following every other contributing member so you can check the app on the go for new submissions. so some of you that are in the SC group will see i have chosen to follow you.
my cup of tea is hip hop mostly, so you might see some classic 90s sounding hip hop or just plain electronic coming from me fairly soon. i just got the app today and dont exactly know my way around perfectly but the learning curve isnt that steep.
hope to see you all around and id definitely be down to contribute to an album of any kind.
scubapig - are you using a synth for the bass drum? I can hear a longer decay one sometimes. Maybe it's just a different sample.
Pezta - Yeah get some Hip Hip on the go! We've been lacking that so far. 90s would be my favourite era too.
My tracks are now available for download ;)
Hi Blip. The bass drum is one I made with Sonic Charge Microtonic. I guess what you might be hearing is the different decay times on the synth (one of your presets tweaked) that sits with it on the quarter beat?
Ah that might be it!
@scubapig - very nice textures and mixing. How many of those sounds are based on your own imported samples versus factory default stuff that comes with NanoStudio? I'm hearing a lot of things I don't immediately recognize as tweaked variations of the factory sounds. Either way, you've got quite the ear for textures!
@shannong: Hey, thanks for the compliments. Well, there's a few of my sounds in there...I used some generated in NI Massive as waveforms for the Edens. The main bass pulse is an Eden synth preset tweaked and the drums are mine imported, although a lot are 808 sounds similar to the set you get with Nano. Used a lot of effects from Nano on there though and recorded movements on the XY pads for variation.
Cheers for now. Got to get back on the Nano...It's too addictive!
Hey everyone i just wanted to say i posted 2 tracks: Intuition and Focus on the soundcloud group page. They are along the Hip Hop line, and it was a complete blast producing in NS. let me know what you guys think.
New one up on the 'Cloud...
Can't stop making stuff with this! And that's got to be a good thing...I see the tracks are pouring out from you folks! Making music is fun again...
Some really interesting presets - ring mod?
Ring mod all over the shop...:-) My favourite kind of mod...
With a sprinkling of automation on the filter cutoff and amp release if I'm not mistaken?
There's no fooling you, Mr. Blip. Yes indeed.
By the way, quick feature suggestion: There's a Cubase feature you may be aware of called "locators to selection" - kind of self explanatory. Be nice to select a part or parts in the song, hit a key and have the loop points conform to that selection. Good for overdubs etc. and so you don't have to zoom out, find the left locator, zoom in enough to grab it, then drag it, then zoom out etc. etc.
Of course, I may have just missed a similar thing in the app...
Anyway, bye for now.
Good suggestion. Plus, quick to do and I can actually think of an easy way of putting it on the UI for a change so extra bonus points :)
hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for the plays! each of my tracks have about 26 plays. i would appreciate some feedback though right here on this forum if you guys could. since im the only one making hip hop id like to here your guys critiques. let me know what you think.
the track focus is a bit of a loop but i was going to try and rap over it someday.
Also, while I'm here, spotted an issue with the release on TRG-16. After you told me about how it only works in "hold" mode, I tried it on a couple of sounds with success - works like decay in a way. So I used it to shorten a shaker sound that was already quite short and it worked fine - nice fade off and achieved the desired effect. But when I mixed to wave and played it back, the shaker sound had almost disappeared from the mix. It was really short, like a tiny tick and very quiet, probably more to the shortness of the sample than volume. Also, it did nasty things to a bass drum. Instead of shortening and fading, it just cut it with some crackling noise. That was while playing it in Nano, before any mixdown. Thought I'd let you know anyway.
Ah yes I know what this is. To improve CPU performance during playback, certain values are interpolated over an interval of about 10ms or so. During render (where realtime CPU performance is not necessary), this is tightened up to about 5ms.
The one you hear during mixdown/resample is closer to what it should be, but obviously you don't know that because you've only heard the realtime playback version.
Maybe I should limit the mixdown/resample interpolation frequency so it behaves the same in all cases?
... or limit the release control so it can't go so low (which I'd thought I'd done but obviously not!) ?
