There's no way to turn off those airplane mode alerts I'm afraid, the OS handles them!

I think all of Luftrum's suggestions are very good. I'm not sure how far you should be catering for the 'casual' user, by doing this you may be selling your extremely professional app short. Obviously, not everyone is adept with using pro audio software, but if you like it enough you learn it. Also, people should be encouraged more to delve into programming their own sounds instead of calling up presets all the time.

With Eden, instead of the scroll buttons on the right-hand side, would it not be better to have a tabbed system where you can jump to each section you want without having to travel between all the sections to get there? Icon tabs? Obviously your very nice scrolling graphic could still be in place, but it scrolls quickly to your desired tab from where you are to the tab you press?

Hi there,

Firstly, thank you for going to the effort with this awesome piece of software!!

Just fantastic!

A feature that is not implemented in any software similar to this but one that I have always wanted and have always requested, only to be turned down each time is this:

The ability to quantize and have the grid lock to (in piano roll view), tuplets like quintuplets & septuplets etc.

All of these programs only ever implement straight, dotted and triplet values.. This is the year 2010... Lets evolve people...

Rhythms that make use of quintuplets as the subdivision are essentially no different from semiquaver or triplet rhythms in that they have just as much potential to create interesting grooves or uninteresting grooves. Grooves that are danceable and funky, or heavy and complicated, and grooves that are boring and nothing out of the ordinary. Just like semiquavers and triplets etc....

Do you know what I mean?

So.... I am requesting a feature that enables the user to implement other quantization values such as 5 and 7 etc and have this also able to be displayed in the piano roll view for snapping to when drawing notes...

In its current state, a user can turn the grid off and make notes of any length starting at any point in time they want but this is far more cumbersome and time consuming to do so than it would be if the quantization existed, thereby limiting the ability to let the creativity flow smoothly and quickly.

With "grid off", the user has to try to guess as accurately as they can, how far apart each note should be to make them equally spaced for quintuplets or whatever they are trying to create.. The workaround I am employing at the moment is rather tedious and that is to draw in crotchets into the pattern so that at least the beat is easily seen and then turn the grid off in order to get customizable starting time of notes. To make this workaround less tedious, it would be great if the user could select a grid to view their work in but turn *snap to grid* off, as opposed to just turning the grid off altogether thereby providing no visual reference....

Another feature request is for full screen piano roll view editing...

I am very happy to beta test too and have worked on/are working on numerous other applications including Xewton Music Studio, Visual Metronome, Notebooks, Nested Notebooks, also the Nokia application MidiWriterPro, and the desktop computer software Virtual Combat Cards. I rather enjoy providing detailed reports.

I hope I made some sense with my requests.. I understand that the request is probably not going to be high on your priorities list but to counter that I'd like you to think about how yours would be a unique application in the music editing/creating software industry if it did have this feature...

Thanks again for your time and efforts!

Joe

My wish is about live jamming.

I like that when you press over the measures in the ruler you go to beat 1 of the measure, BUT some kind of markers would be fantastic: intro, verse, bridge, solo, ending,... So you could jamm over the song, pressing these markers. Of course, a global quantization (ala Abeton Live) would help to keep the tempo.

Another thing is about the sampler: there is actually an option of trigger, hold, and loop for every pad. You could add a "infinite loop" option, so the loop keeps looping till the pad is hitted again. This option will let you jamm with 16 loops, without the need to keep 16 pads pressed all the time.

And, of course audio tracks,...

i have another feature request :-) automatic multritrack export will be great :-)) i have plan extend, finish and master my tunes in DAW on my PC, so i'm now exporting individual tracks (solo one chanel, export, solo another chanel, export, ... it's a bit boring :-)) ... it will be great whent this (solo - export - solo -expost -...) process will be automatised on one click and then files like {projectname}_{X} will be saved (X will be 1-6 for each sequencer track) .... also great advantage of such export will be possibility such export disable global SEND FX's (delay& reverb) OR at least export them as another two individual tracks ( _reverbSend _delaySend) ...

Let me echo everyone else in saying this is a fantastic product. (And a great price-point -- as a hobbyist, I probably wouldn't have ponied up the dough if it had been much more expensive.)

One minor request is that, when you switch from "Note" to, say "Vel" in the part editor, it should retain the same zoom. Often I'm looking at a zoomed in selection of notes, and i want to apply some CCs, but I can no longer see the notes. At least if they're in the same spot on the screen, that would help. Even better would be if there were a dim background of notes, so you could see them while modifying the CC values.

Also, this function may exist, but if so I haven't been able to find it. I'd like to be able to set the volume (as a CC), both using the patchbay, and in the part editor.

Finally, and this is the biggie: you should be able to beatbox into the mike, and have it turn it into MIDI, based on machine learning techniques. How hard could it be? :-) (See: http://www.mcld.co.uk/thesis/ )

Switching between note and velocity should keep the same zoom - if you can find a situation where it doesn't then let me know how you did it and I'll fix it! Other controller events could be a different story.

It would be quite nice to see notes dimly when editing controller values, I'll add it to the list.

Probably the best patchbay destination for volume control is Amp Amount. Bear in mind though, that this is 'summed' with the outputs of other mod destinations so setting it to zero may not result in zero volume. Until proper mixer automation is added (whenever that is) I'd probably suggest modifying note velocity to get a similar effect.

I'll put the machine learning in tomorrow then yeah? Can't be much harder than getting feckin' NanoSync to work on OS X 10.4.

Oops, my mistake. It does indeed retain the zoom when looking at velocity. I must have been switching to another controller type.

I was trying to fade a held note, so, sadly, that won't work.

yeh i have this problem too. when i'm holding down one consistent note, it's usually the beginning or end of a segment, so i would like it to fade in/fade out but you can only change the volume of the entire note.

ALSO, i noticed when i mess with a synths effects it isn't usually saved via autosave or save. So when I have a synth sounding just the way i like it, i lose it if I ever leave the app, having to reapply the settings.

Other then that amazing! I'll keep looking for issues.

Synth effects are saved together with the other synth settings, so you have to save the preset too.

Yes you must write a preset to keep it. This will be changed in the next version.

Feature idea: Allow song to keep playing while recording sample for the sampler pads. That way you could sing or whatever in tune and time and add those samples as vocal parts to the song.
Also it would be nice to have song "sections" with their own time and tempo. Then they could be moved around the song as a complete unit.

dogatemyiphone: i'm too strongly for "playback during record" feature, that will be great - i wan't record samples and short melodies from my external hw synths...

Yeah blip,

a tempo changing feature would be EPIC! Like how in Day N Nite the end of the song slows way down like 50bpm. If you had the ability of changing the tempo during a speficic segment much like how you can alter the velocity (Fade/slowly slow down/slowly speed up/etc.)

i appreciate that this app is brand new, and there's heaps you've got planned but yet to implement. still, thought i'd chip in with some 'wishlist' ideas :)

- ability to lock the drum machine sequencing view to 8 drum parts on the screen. then you could scroll between the first 8 drums and the second, much simpler for grid sequencing and no need for zooming in and out.

- Live Mode; it would be great to have an option of changing sequence loop points to switch between 'sections' on the fly, and maybe have knobs for live tweaks alongside the live sequencing controls (select which CCs and which instruments these knobs control via another page)

thanks :)

What I would like to see is yes native iPad version but even in this same version

1.more tracks!!
6 cmon on?????
2. Automation support so we can literally mix our creations and have the fader move ments saved and recallable!
Yes I mean read, write, touch, latch and trim!

3. Also a mixer for the drums as well!

4. Say you already have beat maker and you have loaded up your phone or iPad with
Loops and patches already. Why should I have to now re import the same files using up more space?
Just contact intua and see If the would allow acess to their directory for the sake of gathering sounds and even work with them to even link the 2 apps together.
I know I'm dreaming here but it's a drag to now have to re import the very same library of sounds just to use this app on the same level I use beat maker!!

When copy and paste comes I will just go into beatmaket locate a loop or patch I want copy that to the clipboard then paste it into Nanostudio.

Unfortunately Apple don't allow directory sharing between apps. The only way to do it is via the pasteboard.

blip: i have often one problem, and second filter section will be BIG solution for this problem.. the problem is that when i need use lowpass filter for some sound, i get somethimes low-frequency artifacts (caused mostly when some more extreme modulations are used), and these artifact are big problem in mix .. so it will be VERY useable to have possibility use another filter, set in hipass mode, and cut bottom spectrum of sound ... in some case is BP mode solution, bud in most case no...

this is example what about i'm talking, these short "drops" when envelope starts :
http://www.raysubject.sk/nanoideas/mod_problem.mp3

i think it should be not much coding work, simply duplicate whole filter section (whole filter page inclucing envelope) and maybe (but not necessary) add somewhere switch to have possibility to switch serial/paralel filter connection - i know it will be another cpu power eater but maybe some switch to turn on/off second filter section will be solution.. please, please, if you will able to add this to first update, it will be be really BIG deal for better sound tuning .. :-)

@dendy: Actually this sounds to me like you have a filter curve, whose release slope is even steeper than the amp curve release. Did you try having a longer release time on the filter curve?

My Wishlist:
- I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but anyway: whenever I go into edit part mode (pianoroll) it's fully zoomed out vertically and I need to zoom in every time I want to edit a specific part. Wouldn't it be easier to have a default zoom of whatever, so one can edit notes comfortably right away.

And those great features, that already have been mentioned:
- line 6 (Oh my God!)
- high quality mode for faster phones? (sometimes when transposing samples (w/o filtering) dithering-artifacts become noticable.)
- custom scale maps (with presets, and additionally fully customizable would be cool)
- arpeggiator (plus being able to apply the custom scale map afterwards - bliss)
- multisampled instruments (and support to a soundfont format of some kind would be crazy)
- expand 4mb limit (as far as i know this is already being adressed)

BTW: I find the eden interface very well laid out. I wouldn't like a drop-in keyboard as I want to play and edit at exactly the same time. Tabs would be nice, but I too think it would take up too much space - the slider as it is now, is nice as well.

@dendy: I can think this might be caused by one of two problems. The first might be the filter modulation dropping too low towards the bass range (I think there's some Q on there which might make the problem worse too) - you could try inching the filter's cutoff a touch or so off the bottom. The second is as you say, where extreme fast modulations cause low frequency artifacts. I could probably minimise the second problem by applying a rate limit to the filter modulation, rather than adding a second filter. Let me know if increasing the filter cutoff slightly improves the situation.

- I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but anyway: whenever I go into edit part mode (pianoroll) it's fully zoomed out vertically and I need to zoom in every time I want to edit a specific part. @e-mail-adressat - I tried a few 'intelligent zoom' options but gave up. The problem I had was that on entering the editor I immediately got lost as to where I was and then had to zoom out to find out. If you don't watch it, this might increase the number of zoom operations rather than decrease them.

I also tried tabs on the Eden synth to start with but as the features increased it became impossible. There's really only room for 2 buttons on there for 95% reliable operation. Once it goes up to 3 buttons that becomes 70%, 4=50% etc. etc. What I might do one day is a 'pullout' menu. This would be invoked with a gesture (like the swipe up and down you can do now) but it would be a swipe from the edge to the centre of the screen.

Regarding Luftrum's thoughts on signal flow: I agree that that would be more logical. And maybe great for programming sounds... But the way the layout is set up now seems to be more aimed at swiftness in regards to performing and song writing.

okay my example wasn't exacly ideal to describe why about i dream in eden :-) i know there are ways how to avoid this concrete "problem" from my example .. but in many many cases i need to put some hi-pass on synth to cut down everything bellow for example 350 hz - that's common way in psytrance - put on everything except of kick & bass 350-400hz hipass filter to get whole mix clean and keep all synths & arpeggios splited from kick/bass, and turn off this only in parts where kick/bass aren't playing ... so aditional filter, or simple EQ (i know there is EQ-only mode in FX unit but that's not exactly what i need) will be great stuff for me :-)) but i understand, there is BIG todo list so i will be patient.. maybe one day ... :-)

Hi,

Thought I'd join the fray - having a lot of fun with this brilliant app!

Wishlist so far:

1) When dragging notes up/down, would like option to hear them.
2) Option to re-order the pages of the synth player/editor.
3) Mixer track in sequencer.
4) Snapshot feature for Mixer.

That's all for now :)

Ah well I've just been adding number 1 today!

Can you describe number 4 a bit more?

Great!

Number 4 is a feature I miss from Notator - it allowed you to take a number of snapshots of the current mixer state, and then toggle between them by clicking on their respective icons.

Oh - I forgot my main wish!

5) To be able to set the Master Key of each synth, so that the keyboard wouldn't always try to force you into playing in C. I get why it's always C-C, as this is the standard layout for hardware keys (like my TI2 Polar, for instance) but when you only have one octave in each plane, it feels too restrictive. So, for instance, by setting the Master Key for an instrument to D, the octave of the keyboard would always be displayed from D-D.

First I want congraulete with you for these amazing application,I'm think it's the first pro audio app for Iphone.
I play for a while with Nano, these is my wishlist

GENERAL:more flaxibility, for example when start a project, the option to decide load 2 eden synth and 2 trg with different bank
more mixer routing capability:sidechain, and fx insert and or send

TRG-16:multy layer option,I know Iphone touchscreen isn't velocity sesible, but you can edit from the sequencer something like:C4,option,chose the layer.

SAMPLER:in my opinon it will be the best upgrade, maybe with the possibility to upload SF2 or better SFZ format

Thank

heh, there is sooo much wishes from all of us, that blip should hire another 10 coders to realize at least half of them sooner that after 2-3 years :)))

and apple should create ipad with i7 cpu and LOT of memory :)))
