Can anyone run down the steps to create the best clean and dirty wobble bass/dubstep sound?

Pleeeease? :(

Yes. I've found it difficult getting dirty sounds out of nanostudio too. I plugged the iphone running nanostudio into my guitar amp today, through the overdrive channel, and got some great distorted industrial/DnB/grime sounds, particularly with autobeat set to 1/16s. A pity there isn't an overdrive on nanostudio - but maybe there is a way round that. One I can think of which doesn't involve nanostudio effects at all is to DI record the over driven sound from the amp into my computer, and then import them into Nanostudio as a sample. Alternatively record the sounds clean and use distortion effects on my desktop DAW (Reaper).

The Eden waveshaper's got a couple of overdrive settings - or are you thinking of the trigger pads?

Yeah I was thinking of the pads, but thanks for Eden wave shaper tip. ;-)

Thanks for the tips, but I was looking for more in the area of correct settings for with the low pass filter and LFO's :/

I can get it to "wobble" only slightly.

And what would you say is the cleanest plain synth sound to start working with? I'm not the biggest fan of how the sound banks are setup. Would love a new bank where you can easily save your favorites.

You could use preset P02 from the Laid Back demo as your starting point (in the lower octaves). Preset A57 might be another.

But really quickly:

- Disconnect everything in the patchbay to do with filters and LFOs
- Still in the patchbay, set LFO1 to control filter cutoff (100%) and LFO2 to control LFO1's rate (100%)
- On the filter page, turn cutoff and filter env amount down to zero (becase you want LFO1 doing it all instead)
- Now Set LFO1 to Saw Up, delay to zero, amount to max, rate to 1/16 beat sync - this will make the wobble
- Set LFO2 delay to zero, amount to max and fiddle around with the waveform and rate - this makes the speed of the wobble change over time
- You might want to increase the filter Q

You could use the aux envelope or knob/X/Y pad instead to control LFO1's rate instead of LFO2.

Using the aux envelope to control rate with amount works perfectly given that you can't control a constant rate using LF0 2. Thank you!!! I'll be sure to post my stuff up on these hurr forums!

Is there any way to load up that preset from the demo into another project? Sorry, I'm totally new to these type of programs and producing music in general so I'm a bit overwhelmed by everything, haha.

Preset management's a bit basic at the moment but here's how you do it:

- Find a global preset you don't like
- Change to the 'source' project preset
- Save it to the global preset you didn't like
- Load the 'destination' project
- Use your new global preset in the new project, optionally writing it to the project bank if you wish

Hope that's clear!

worked like a charm, thanks!

how would i change the lfo rate at different points in the song with the knob? i have it set to lfo 1 rate with all of those settings, and when i draw lines in the knob edit it goes straight from 1/8 to no wobble at a certain point with no in between...i cant get it to do 1/16ths or 1/4ths, etc

You've got two choices:

1. Set the LFO to a slow rate (eg 2) and then use the knob to speed it up by 'adding on' (eg. patchbay Knob -> LFO Rate > +100)

2. Set the LFO to a fast rate (eg 1/16) and then use the knob to slow it down by 'taking off' (eg. patchbay Knob -> LFO Rate > -100)

Hopefully that should make the knob vary the LFO over its full range.
