I've installed nanosync on my laptop running vista. I have been rebooting my router and the firewall settings are the lowest they can be. I have allowed nanosync in the firewall settings but everytime I click connect and enter the IP Address manually it comes up with the IP Address.....then '10240' at the end.

I'm starting to lose faith please can someone help me?

The '10240' refers to the 'port number' used by NanoSync. Because multiple things (such as apps) can talk over the same IP address, a port number is usually used to distinguish one thing's data from another.

Where are you seeing this? If it's at the top to the right of the connect/disconnect button then that's OK. Or are you seeing it in an error/warning dialogue?
