NanoStudio V1.30 (iPad universal) has been submitted to the app store
Er actually I submitted it yesterday (30/11/11) but I wanted to do a little more testing before announcing officially!
Apple's stats state (as stats do) that 99% of app update submissions are reviewed within 5 working days, so hopefully not too long to wait.
A release version of V1.30 for Windows and OS X will be squeezed out of the pipeline (if you'll excuse the imagery) over the next few days. In the meantime, the beta versions aren't too far away from the final version and you can download them here:
http://forums.blipinteractive.co.uk/node/2443
The project file format hasn't changed since V1.21 so no need to worry about compatibility issues if you're transferring files between V1.30 on you computer and V1.21 on your iOS device.
Here's the final list of features that made it through to this update:

Many thanks, I assume it was a huge pile of work you had to do. You make a lot of people happy with this !!
Wait. Background audio?!?!?!?!?!? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
iamanne: no, just background playing of itunes tracks.. it means nanostudio itself will not play in background when you switch to other app ... just when you are in inanostudio, you can listen also some tune which you have in itunes library :-)
I'll have a look at getting NanoStudio to play when it's in the background next time ...
* Increased size limit for a single sample to 32MB
Awesome!! more great news!
Ah ok, fair enough :) definitely looking forward to that
"* Increased size limit for a single sample to 32MB"
Be aware - load 2 or 3 of these on most devices and it will probably just crash without warning. I've done it to get people off my back, but it's kind of against my better judgement!
btw. to the topic of subbmiting NS to appstore -> i'm afraid that i will not sleep next few days .. i will 24 hours/day constantly each 10 minutes check appstore :-)))
thanks matt, at least we know to be careful with sample sizes.. all these other updates are really awesome.. Nice Work !! now I guess it's time to pony out the dough for an iPad.. I have a Motorola Xoom that was givin' to me, But there is no good music software for it, so I just browes the web and play games with it...
Wow! That's a lot of features for a "no new features" update…
+1 :-)
jan
* Added 'Mix audio with other apps' option to allow iTunes music background play (iOS)
yee-haaaar!
Most of them are UI changes that just seemed natural as the iPad version was developed, the rest were just quick ones to take off the list really.
Blip, life's tough and you're just going to have to learn to live with some praise ;)
cool. looking forward to the ipad native version :)
hm, still not in appstore ? damn lazy bastards in apple review team... :-)))))
It's OK, I think Wednesday's bong day in the test department - it's a Californian tradition :)
Haha.. I thought it was traditional everyday.
Thanks in anticipation. My iPad shall soon be complete.
You guyz don't need to constantly check the app-store, lol, your iPad will tell you when it's time to update within 10 minutes of it actually becoming available to update!
Yes!
> You guyz don't need to constantly check the app-store
Doesn't mean we won't, though
> your iPad will tell you when it's time to update within 10 minutes of it actually becoming available to update!
my iPad is so horny for new update that i think it will notify me 10 minutes BEFORE it starts to be available :-))
lol @ dendy...
I'm passing on the iPad for now because I am going to be joining some of you guys in fatherhood soon enough (welcome to the club!) so I want to save up some money... for... just in case... but hey, I'm still killer excited for this update
Congratz, iammane =)
@iammane...
Fatherhood eh? LOL! Good luck on that one. The first year is bliss- then it goes down hill for the next 20+ years!!!!!
You're gonna love it! :D
@iammane Congrats! It's a life changer...you'll discover new sources of love you didn't know you pocessed.
Get some sleep now. About 20 years worth will be needed.
lol Thanks guys... I just think it's hysterical how apparently we're like a dad club. I will be packing in as many Z's as possible now!
EDIT: COOL dads, obviously ;D
wuhu !!!!
@iammane - Having a little one is no excuse not to get a ipad - think of it as an investment in his/her education. My one was on morphwiz/thumbjam at 4 months and managed to put together a tune this morning in IKaosalator ( with a little help ).
Having a tot was actually my reason for getting an iPad, as I basically needed to put away my home studio set-up as soon as he was mobile. It got replaced by an iPad (I started using NS much more once I was using it on the iPad) and the LPK25 via the camera connection kit. The iPad allowed me to a) work on songwriting when time permitted (a few minutes here and there, as the large chunks of time I had before all but disappeared) and b) It meant I wasn't chained to my desktop DAW (Since getting the iPad, I think I've done the majority of my editing and arranging and about half of my new song ideas on the iPad while sitting in bed right before I went to sleep).
@iammane congrats! It's so much fun. You finally have social permission, indeed encouragement, to act like a kid again. Babies are just constant sources of amazement and wonder. If you have the time to pay attention, not a day goes by that they haven't sorted out something new in their little head or how to control some part of thier body to do something they couldn't do yesterday.
You lose the freedom to go waste a bunch of money in bars at any given moment but you gain the freedom to jump on the bed, build forts in the living room and love without limits. Plus, you can still go get drunk with your pals, you just need to plan it two weeks in advance! Three of they have kids.
I found that people mostly wanted to tell me how hard parenting is. Not that it's without challenges but if parenting were actually hard, we'd all be dead
uhm...colleague of mine told me that fisrt year is pure nightmare .. specially for those whole like sleep more than 3 hours in the night :-)))))
Nicely said syrupcore.
I am smiling at the fatherhood comments, my first is due at the end of February. Not long enough to bank enough decent sleep though.. not enough time in the day as it is.
Get the iPad now iammane! Then get all the Toca Boca apps and Logic (!) in readiness..
How long have you got left?
You can always get the little crumb snatchers in the act.

A ways to go still, she's only six weeks in. I probably will still pick it up haha, but I still want to wait for 3...
And three hours of sleep a night? It's like being in college again! WAAAHOOO! Except I have the pay the mortgage and utilities lol
I waited three months before I told a soul, but we had a few near misses previously so it was a nerve wracking time initially. All the best mate :)
Now where is the NanoStudio Dads thread at?
Yeah I feel bad I didn't mean to jack this lol... I think that thread does exist actually, when things are further along I'll revisit it. Thanks for the best wishes all :)
> to act like a kid again
Or behave like an adult the first time in your life. The amount of 30+yo kids is staggering, just staggering. But yeah . . he will learn how love can break your heart, too. To deny things, forbit by setting boundaries and punishments. It's a learning experience, really. You not only learn things about life, but about yourself too. My mom hated how love broke her, so she hated me too . . after all, it was me that made her feel the way she did. Not her disability to see what's important and let the rest slide.
> You lose the freedom
Living in society nobody is free. Everyone is on constant probation. Only people who already broke the law know what that actually means, but yeah.
> if parenting were actually hard, we'd all be dead
Feeding someone isn't hard. Parenting, however, is hard. Just look at the world and ask yourself if we're doing a good job. Our lifestyle is not sustainable and last 1,5 months of each year we are using resources nature is unable to regenerate the pace we are consuming them. One of our legs is already in the coffin. Seems instead of building the society to actually fill our needs, we are merely feeding the construct of society with more and more people, with more and more stuff rather than sustainable values. I'm not surprised to see our kids grow into narcissistic piece of shits, because lets face it . . that's the way the system, society is too. If you're not all that you get exploited, abused the way ppl like I do. It's fun too, for the side that does the exploiting and abusing, so yeah. Why the fuck would we want to change things at all, when we _think_ we are on the winning side.
Yeah. A learning experience. I had to learn everything by myself and I did too, but sadly way too late. I'm a landslide on crashcourse with just about anything willing to settle on my way.
Congratulations, iammane! My son is just turning one month old and it's already been a wild ride. Way better than an iPad ;)

I'm sorry, but I disagree strongly with the above statement. Do you mind if we leave 'sustainability' politics out of these discussions, on the grounds of keeping our sanity? Cheers! :)
"Now where is the NanoStudio Dads thread at?"
An excellent idea!
My 8 year-old daughter has just passed her grade 1 violin, and received a Merit- which is great news for us. Her teacher said that she can go straight into grade 3. I'm very proud of her.
My 6 year old is studying piano and is already playing with both hands- she can play "when the saints go marching in"! Again I'm very proud of her too!
Children are great, and very rewarding. :D
> on the grounds of keeping our sanity?
Lost cause, this one ^^

> Children are great, and very rewarding. :D
I agree. Wish I had one. Or two. So they could fight it out without me ^^
damm apple speed it up!!
do apps get approved over weekends?
Any idea when midi sync will be implemented?
From my experience, it takes about a week to get approved. But sometimes it can take longer. :)
Very cool holiday gift to us! I made an account here just to say thanks, been waiting for this for a while. Love the app so far, can't wait to see what you've added for ipad.
I've never been more excited about a software release.

Way Exciting!!!!
