Universal iPad version coming soon ...
I'm going to release the Windows version for people to try out either late this week or early next week, but in the meantime I thought I'd tease with a screenshot to mull over:
Man, the iPad's too wide for the forum!
Last one for now ...
Looks great. Can't wait to try the new look & feel ;-)
After investigating the screenshots I have two questions:
Wouldn't it be more logical to swap the positions of LFO and Amp Envelope? So we have all three envelope types in one column ...
What will be happen with the "Two keyboards mode" of Eden? Will we get a four octave keyboard? That would be cool!
Very excited!!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! :D
With regards to the page ordering, I think you've touched upon one of the tricky issues with a universal version. There seems to be a very fine balance between changing the layout enough to do justice to the extra screen space and changing the layout so much that you need two different manuals and two sets of alternate instructions when giving support.
Also, what you can't see from the screenshots is that layout is dynamically assigned based upon the size/shape of the window (important for the desktop version and maybe other tablets if/when they become available). It will become clearer once you get the desktop version and start resizing the window.
Finally WOWWWWW
Can I try The beta????
There won't be an iOS beta but there will be the free Windows/OS X version available for download in the next 2-3 days.
I'm super excited even for just the desktop version, on the weekends I use my midi controller and NS on Windows, when I'm done I copy everything back to the phone for working on the train etc :)
Yep, I have to say that it's made a massive difference to the desktop version - you can get a lot of mixer channels on there now at 1920x1200!
Great!
I can see you didn't waste your time.
Pressing reload from now ... :-)
Mute buttons on the mixer!! nice :-)
Looking really good, can't wait. And it will be nice to have it looking so nice on the iPad.
To be honest I look at it now and wonder how it took so long, but that's UI's for you. Plus I did rewrite my art export chain to handle different resolutions and rewrote the UI to handle dynamic layouts. And the irony : the way I could tell that the rewrite was a success was by looking at the iPhone version and checking that it was almost exactly the same as before :)
Will there be a quick Way of switching between Song view, manage view and the channels, like when using the SS25 Hardware Buttons?
Looks great. Really looking forward to this.
Any chance of a screenshot of the sequencer? ;)
Matt, how prepared are you if the iPad 3 is released in the first half of next year with a 2048x1536 resolution?
\o/
Make an in-app purchase to support/thank the developer when you release it.
THAT IS F*CKING AWESOME !!!
hi matt this looks insane!!!
i just noticed the grey arrows on the eden screen what are these for? will they allow users to drag the keyboard where they'd like??
thst would be awesome!!!
and will there be mute/solo buttons for the iphone version aswell?
but again this looks soo good makes me really! want to get an ipad... :/
G**D***!! I'm going to have to give my credit card to my wife to keep me from buying an iPad… But to have this on the mac will be incredible! So when can we give you money for it?
And very nice work on the mixer screen! Can't wait to see what the sequencer looks like, this is going to be so much fun!
great...! really glad to see that it hasnt changed that much :)
mutes and solos on the mixer are definitely good to see!
can you double click on the mixer channels' instrument name to get to the instrument too??
- in the same way you can from the song mode at the moment
thinking about it, if there was a "song" and a "mixer" button on the top bar then you'd be able to flip round all parts dead quickly
Matt, it looks like a fantastic and well thought out layout. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Thank you.
Looks excellent.
Yet another reason for me to want to get an iPad.
Can't wait to get my hands on the Windows version
Oh myyyyyy, Gosh.
Looking GREAT!
It feels so familiar already, military-grade grey metal and all. :)
I'm ready to buy it again.
Superexcited!
It's universal, so it's a free upgrade.
hey matt are there any additions to the iphones app or is it purely the ipad update??
loving the work!!
fuckkkkkkinggggg yyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh !!!
jumping here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tasty !!!!!!
I know the update is free, I *want* to pay for it. I'm going to offer it to a friend or two.
Not much I'm afraid, this update has been all-consuming and I've just watched the feature wishlist build over the last few months. If anything, iPhone users will probably notice (or get annoyed by) some seemingly arbitrary changes to the layout in a few places where it made sense to unify it with the iPad version! I really don't think there's anything that's made it go backward though, they really are just some simple changes that I got used to after half an hour or so.
That said, (just remembering off the top of my head) the iPhone will have a few things:
- Different keyboard scales (eg. pentatonic etc.)
- Ability to slide the keyboard by fractions of a note rather than just a whole octave at a time
- Mixer mute/solo
- Double tap on mixer channel title to go to instrument
- Double tap on 'centre zero' knobs to return to centre
- Song editor can zoom vertically
.. not very exciting but better than a kick up the arse. I'm going to see if I can add a few more (easy) goodies but only once I'm sure that the current version's tested and ready for an app store submission by the 1st of December. Apple's test department get busy before Christmas and I still want to make the end of the year.
I don't want to be a d%^& but,
can't loose for asking...
are the keys on the keyboard resizable...
I have wide fingers, and love the FL Studio style keys...
Maybe you can make them streck like another app that I have use that forgot its name...
anyway... looks like you soon will be kind of ipad music apps(in my book you already are)
GREAT WORK !!!
Congratulations Matt, and thanks for your hard work on this :-)
Here are the current scales BTW. If anyone's got any requests for others then let me know. Can't be microtonal.

The keys are resizable in the same way they are now, ie. with 3 different settings on the MANAGE/Settings menu. On the iPad, they're physically larger - 12, 14, or 16mm wide depending on the setting.
thanks for replying Matt!
I've got to say all the things on that list I've wanted for months and it really is great that you managed to fit them in, cheers! :)
its great to no that those of us without an ipad also have a little something to look forward to before Christmas!!
Joe.
I didn't know you can change the keys on current version...
wuhu !!!!!
thanks!
Don't sell yourself short in this one. Keyboard updates, mixer mutes and vertical zooming on the phone are all pretty fekkin sweet considering you've been saying 'just iPad stuff' for 6 months! I know I'm looking forward to them.
@Blip: For scales, I'd put a vote in for Mixolydian (my personal favorite after minor blues). A great one for pop/rock music.
id like to second the vote for mixolydian... just tried it out on my keyboard its really good...
MATT=Santa Claus !
I'm the Santa from Trading Places

Got any fish in those pockets? Maybe just fishy beats!
Really throwing in the whole mode scheme would be great if it wasn't too much. Or really any way to specify a scale (ala Animoog), though that might be more than just selecting scales.
Really looking forward to these iPad changes and the universal update. Will take anything you throw at us. Looking forward to the Windows port as well.
Looks fantastic. Can't wait to try out the osx version.
Mixer mute/solo on the iPhone, vertical zoom on song editor – you just made my day! I didn't dare hope for that much.
One thing for sure...it's a reason to buy a ipad2...oh oh...the same with my credit card and my wife : D ...if android solve there problems with ics android 4.0 ?!? ...mmhhh and what about windows 7.5 mango or 8.0?...we will see... in much forums they want ONE music app...the only and one NanoStudio ; )
I love the ios but more money for the developer=more things for us in the future ....whatever,
looks really great. Thank's for such a big free Update Matt. We appreciate this!
@blip : scales - brilliant addition! a godsend for a fudge fingers like me
mixylodian sounds well interesting and id love these - have found them pretty useful on animoog

Matt, just to recap like I said on Ashley's (Palm Sounds) blog, would you mind including the Diminished Scale too?
Olivier Messiaen was a big fan of the Diminished Scale...
