Community NSP and TRG files
Thanks Slam. :)
Place the .nsp file directly on the (projects) folder and not inside any other folder to work properly. ;)
@Zupi: Thanks so much! But I've already placed it in the Projects-folder. This is So Strange....
@ Johwil: Make sure the .nsp file is in the root level Projects folder. Nanostudio should put the samples into the Project folder, if I am not mistaken. Eden just needs to know where to look for the samples. You can double check by going to one of the Project Bank presets, go to the 'Sample Load' Page (also has the choice of using Osc Mix, Ring 1, etc) and press load. At the very top of the screen you should see "Load Sample: Projects/Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX/(name of sample). All of the samples for the .prj file should be there. At the very top of the list (scroll up) is "1" then "10", then "11" and so on. The little blue arrow icons should also have a green check mark on it. If not, then there may be a problem.
BTW, I have not used all of the AKWS collection. I tried a handful of them, but them seem a bit 'chip-tune' to me, which is not my taste. I'd like to be able to combine them into more complex sounds, but I'm not sure how to do that. I was hoping that Matt might have a look at them and give us some recommendations, but I think he's been busy with more important things. Perhaps some of the more experienced sample manipulators on this forum will have some input.
@Johwil: Yeah, I am having the same problem. Only the first 3 sounds work.
Well, I noticed whenever I am not hearing a particular sound in the project bank, the "SAMPLE" led is illuminated in the "Oscillator" section. When I switch the selection back to "MIX", I get all the sounds. Don't know if that's normal or not.
@reusenoise: LOL, I cannot for the life of me get any of your nsp files to decompress. They just don't like my device I guess.
Which nsp file are people referring to which seems to have missing samples?
@ Blip Interactive: Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.nsp. I can only get 3 sounds to work.
That does seem odd. One would think that either none of the sounds worked or all of them would. I would try moving the .nsp file (not the .prj file) to the root project folder, then decompress (load) the file.
Was anyone able to load the file with all 64 presets working?
Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.nsp seemed to work fine for me, both in /Projects and in a subfolder (/Projects/Test).
Matt, I didn't think of this until now, but is this not a good thread to discuss the presets? I know music and sound are very subjective, but I think it would be great to get some feedback/constructive criticism of the presets. Maybe I am relying upon the same basic things and should be trying a few other things that are not apparent to me. I wonder if there is something that I am not doing that could be quite nice... Any suggestions?
Well seems that i am affected from that "Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.nsp" not working affair too.
It worked fine on my PC but not on iPAD and behaves exactly as popp1234 posted.
As an anxious life form i am, :P i did a bit of research and came to a conclusion which although makes perfect sense to me i am not sure what Matt or anyone else suggests.
When i transferred the aforementioned file through Nanosync, took me a while but, i noticed that a few letters at the end of the file was missing and the file now was named "Sample Presets Vol 1 Amb.nsp".
Searching through Eden.bnk file, i saw that the folders references were still for the complete name, i.e. " /User/Projects/Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.prj/Fantasy_C3 O.wav"
So i was quite confident that the problem was a name conflict on that references.
I transferred again the "Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.nsp" in the Projects folder, i went to Manage-Load and just before i proceed to open it, i choose to rename it by adding the 7 missing characters "ient FX.nsp", and finally worked.
I am using Windows XP SP2, Nanosync 1.30, iPad 2 ios 5 and NS 1.32.
@zupi: Good catch, but I am using an Macbook Pro (OSX). Once I transfer the file using Nanosync, it is named "Ambient FX nsp.nsp" in my projects folder on my iPad. It is not missing the "ient FX.nsp". So that won't solve my issue. I even deleted the first nsp from "nsp.nsp" (just shooting in the dark) and it did not work. This is a very strange issue, indeed.
Just to be absolutely precise, the .nsp file on the iPad once transferred should be named exactly "Sample Presets Vol 1 Ambient FX.nsp" to work, at least in my case.
If it is named like that for you as well, then possibly its another issue of which i don't have a clue personally. :(
Hi Zupi, changed the name to the original file name as downloaded and it worked! Now, if I can only decompress reusenoise's files. Thanks so much!
Hmm, I could have been a victim of testing it on Windows and then assuming that it's working the same on iOS. I should have learnt my lesson by now.
NanoSync does some file name length limiting for historical reasons which I'm too scared to change now in case it screws up something else! Tomorrow I'll see if I can rename the nsp to something shorter, fix any resulting sample name referencing issues and upload a new one.
Matt, please let us know what you discover. If there is a limit to the length of file names that should be observed in order to avoid problems, I'd really want to know about that. Also, does it apply to the .prj file name only, or is there a limit to names of presets?
Thanks for the presets, guys :"3

(some Pads or Sets may sound different to iMaschine because i did not changed the pitch for the Samples)
@B3N: HUGE Thank You for the TRG files!! Those are awesome! I know I will get a lot of use out of those sounds. Two really nice collections that must have taken some time to put together. Many thanks!
This thread has been moved to here:
after i upgrading to the 16 track nanostudio i have many tracks left for my loveley TRG and i decided to make some multisample TRG instruments.
A friend of mine sampled some keys from his Keyboard and i edited them. Every TRG Pad now has a single note of the cello strings.
The best way to record a melody is, to record the melody (note range from c3 - d#4) with an eden synth and then drag the midi data the the TRG track. Then the notes will be played with the TRG.
Here is a audiofile of my first creation :-) (long cello strings used)
CelloDEMO by KingsOfMistake
