Not much escapes the All-Seeing-Eye of Blip. But for him working so hard he'd be joining in on the foolishness.

"I waited years for Clip Studio Paint to make it to the iPad. "

Same boat here, Clip Studio Paint is my main tool for work. Celsys is smoking some heavy stuff considering you can get the desktop version (even EX) for 60€ quite often. 10 € / month is insane for an iOS version, it's what I pay for the desktop versions of Photoshop AND Lightroom and that means I get the iOS versions free.

Me, I do have a tough time keeping track of a lot of stuff, but there are subscriptions worth keeping track of. Youtube Red which comes with Google Play Music and Spotify cost the same as buying two music albums per month while having access to all of them and their music videos (and tutorials and Jazza and Nostalgia Critic and political viewpoints from all sides, etc). Dropbox 1TB and iCloud 2TB are the virtual equivalents of renting a storage locker. Adobe Creative Cloud would be worth it if I used Photoshop on PC, which I don’t since I try to veer away from using my PC as much as possible (unless it’s to purchase a track in .wav format off of Beatport and to upload that to Dropbox). If I used a PC, I’d even nab Composer’s Cloud from East-West, because $29.99/month nets the best virtual instruments out there (and buying all outright costs four figures and would take 30+ years to pay as a rent-to-own deal).

Yeah, Celsys must be poking some needles will with strong stuff into their veins. Did you know Medibang recently released a special edition of their Paint app called “Jump Paint”, a Shonen Jump-themed app with manga tutorials, practice “sheets”, and etc. Shonen Jump being THE NUMBER ONE manga series in Japan. Oh yeah, it requires you to sign up, but it’s FREE! That right there is enough of a middle finger to Clip Studio Paint. There’s also Comic Draw, or if you need something more advanced and don’t mind putting in extra work to make panels and such (since it has no subdivide tool), there’s ProCreate (the website of which stresses “no subscriptions, just $9.99 exclusively on the appstore”), and Art Studio (the pro version of which releases soon). You could even squeak by with Adobe Photoshop, Sketchclub, Sketchbook (which charges a subscription for premium features only rather than to enable basic filesaving), etc. Oh, sure none of these have a 3D posing model, but there are apps for that. Sure none of these have the ability to create vector lines that look like natural media, but that’s why there’s Concepts. For animation (which Clip Studio Paint on iOS claims to have), there’s Animation Desk Ultimate (for those of us who don’t want to pay a subscription for their premium features ;) ), and there’s FlipaClip.

Sure, Clip Studio Paint puts everything into a nice, neat software package, and it’s what I used on PC, but I already reestablished my visual arts workflow for the iPad long before the all-in-one Clip Studio Paint iOS was released. $8.99/month just to locally save and store files is an absolutely ridiculous price and is a greedy cash grab for something that doesn’t even have its own cloud storage system.

So yeah, I am glad NS2 will be one-time payments for the app, for the IAPs, etc. I hope I don’t have to wait for an introductory price to buy it full price. I wanna support BlipInteractive afterall.

I have been waiting so long for this I'm starting to compare it to the second coming or a new StoneRoses album. Screw discounts we're in too deep for that. IAPs? Fine. SOLD. Price? I DON'T CARE!!! Curent iOS device won't run it? I'll get a new one!!! We need this Matt! WE NEED THIS NOW!!! It's bad enough I can't run NS1 on my iphone anymore!!! Then I stop by the forum and see screenshots of lovely new devices and hear examples on soundcloud and there's a thread on the AudioBus Forum and...I can't take it any more!!! For the love of God I can't wait another minute much less another month.

I only want two things for Xmas under my tree. The new GrimDawn expansion pack and NS2. Matt this needs to happen or my new years resolution might involve a trip to England.

My guess is blip is scurrying in silence to release before the App Store Christmas cutoff. That or he has decided to torture with silence just for the rush of it.

Apologies for the lack of updates recently. I've been trying to decide how to proceed based on my current situation - the app could potentially be put out before the vacation period but I'm not fully happy with the user experience (although it's not far off) and I still need to be convinced that the app is as close to bug-free as possible.

The human part of me says screw it - release it anyway and take advantage of the Christmas sales period. The professional part of me says push it back a little as there's no point in selling all my work short if it ends up as a slightly confusing bugfest for the sake of saving a few extra weeks. Typically, identifying and fixing bugs after release takes much more time than trying to ensure they're not there in the first place as well as potentially harming the app's initial reception.

The final tipping point is that the amount of work I've been doing recently and the pressure to get it done has had an effect on my mental state and family life which is, let's say, not particularly positive (don't worry, we're not currently at the level where anyone needs to get out the violins).

So I've decided to step away from the keyboard for a little while now and then, attempt to ignore the sense of failure at the back of my mind because I haven't released when I planned to, and do the job properly for the sake of a few extra weeks. I think it's the right decision, although not a particularly welcome one.

The voice behind the curtain has spoken! I think I speak for everyone here (how dare I assume): I'm totally cool with waiting till you are absolutely happy with it. Another few weeks of waiting is nothing if that means it's done right (I say that with constipated contemplation). It's like fine wine; best consumed by whole bottle.

I would actually be down with purchasing a pre-order at full price, if that stimulates some positive motivation. Don't know if that's possible, but I'd totally do that.

To qoute Shigeru Miyamoto: “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.”

I disagree that NS2 would be bad forever if released now, but it's still a good qoute.

Take your time Matt. It is better to serve top quality product to whole market than satisfy couple of guys from your forum that are waiting for NS2 from years. I think that couple of weeks is nothing for us comparing to several years of waiting.

We are happy that NS2 is in final phase of developement and we own it soon :)

I got a great idea... Could you give us some more sweet screenshots to whet our appetite? Honestly, that would be awesome and make the wait more tolerable.

Yeah, that’s fine with me. I’ve been pretty busy anyway - January would be better for me. Or Febuary. Not March though. What with the Ides and all.

Actually this is now possible, Apple added posibility of preorders to Appstore
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/12/customers-now-preorder-apps-in-a...

@matt maybe you should consider it ? We maniacs here in forum would not need constantly checking forum everyday multiple times and you would feel pretty comfortable to see 10.000+ preorders waiting in appstore :-))

Btw. VERY wise decistion to give yoursef a short break and to be with family .. If you go insane by overworking, nobody will benefit from it ...

Plus from my experience, if you take a break, you then solve things which now take days literally in hours ;-)

Enjoy holidays, and may the Force (of community) be with you with you ! :-D

I will buy it whenever it comes out, no question about that!
Though I hoped me, Pantsofdeath and Jinxpadlocks annual Christmas tune would´ve been composed in NS2 :(
But speaking of sales: Didn´t the first Audiobus come out in Januari and it must´ve been one of the biggest selling music apps of all time?
Happy Holidays everyone!

Thanks for the support guys. To be honest I've been dreading posting the 'delayed yet again' thing on the forum, but you've cheered me up about it somewhat!

Personally I think your health (both physical and mental) are way more important than rushing out NS2. Much as I (like most) are desperate to play..... I'm not so desperate as to mess up someone else. Have Christmas off, relax, spend time with your family. We will still be here :-)

Family always come first. Anyway we know that because you've already written this into the T&C's in the manual. Xmas is only a week or so away, so just get the booze and pressies in for the fam and kids. Speak to you again soon! :-)

Hey, blip, have you seen Apple’s new ability for PRE ORDERing apps?

You have to submit a build, and go through approval as usual, but people can preorder and only get charged on the date you set for the launch. You can add new builds before then if you like.

Just a thought, when it’s ready.

And I’m not trying to get the app cheaper, but Apple charge the price that someone preordered at:
So if you set preorder at one price then change tag launch, preorders get a discount. But i’m happy to pay full price.
